Bernerd, the Brewer, is one of the newest and most well known of the villagers. He was searching for new ingredients for his liquors and meads when his ship was destroyed and he found himself in Soporus. He often delights the village gatherings with his stories from the outside world, as well as interesting aspects of history and politics. He has also been a common visitor to the Edgefield residence where the Storm Children have been raised.

He has asked the children for their story at least three times each and eventually wove them together into an epic of survival and grit that he performed for the villagers. Of course, given the sparse nature of the children’s memories, a lot had to be ad-libbed.

Bernerd can offer an apprenticeship involving bee-keeping and brewing mead and liquors, but some suspect he just wants someone else to do his work while he tells them stories.
